Laura / Laura

Born and raised in the northeastern part of Ohio, I have been an avid
hunter since the age of 10, and a tag-a-long on my dad’s hunting outings
since before I can remember. The outdoors, specifically hunting, has
always been a part of my life and who I am and that will never change.
I'm 22yrs old and my hunting adventures currently consist of turkey
hunting, deer hunting, and raccoon hunting with hounds.
It’s hard to
say where my passion of hunting will take me, but I hope to experience
as many different types of hunting possible. I’ll never give up my love
of hunting deer, turkey and raccoon, but there’s always room to expand
and take in something new and exciting.

Willy Lucas / catfish willy

My name is Willy Lucas, I'm 18 years old and I live in the northern part
of Kentucky. Henry county is pretty rural with lots of farm land. I got
started in the outdoors when I was pretty young fishing with my dad. I
caught my first fish by myself when I was 30 months old. I fish for a
little bit of everything, but catfish are hands down my favorite. I
didn't start deer hunting until I was 12. My first deer was what
would've been a busted up 8 pointer but he grew no brow tines. I shot
him and my biggest buck the following year out of what was my friend
Elmer's favorite hunting spot before he passed away the year before. I
never really had any desire to hunt anything else for a few years then I
started hunting squirrels and eventually rabbits. Then this past spring
I gave turkey hunting a try and had a blast. I'm lucky enough my
neighbor has a small pond with a little chunk of woods behind it and
until I graduated back in the summer I was hunting or fishing back there
just about every day.

Norm / Gimp Hunter

It is truly an honor to be named member of the month for an OLD one
legged fat man. There are others here that deserve it more than I do. I
do thank everyone for the honor though. Here is one of the best pictures
I have taken in a long time. Good luck and God Bless. Norm

Josh / soil

My name is Josh Orrill. I'm
28, from southern Illinois. I have a beautiful family consisting
of my wife of 6 years, my 3 year old Lana, and my 4 month old Mila. I
was blessed to have been born into a hunting family. My earliest
hunting memories are going coon hunting with my dad and my uncles. After that I spent a few years as a 'bird dog' for my dad, dove hunting. I killed a lot of squirrels with my first .410 that I got for Christmas. I always loved deer season, even as a youngster, because of
the blood trails. There was not much out there that was more exciting to
me than tracking a deer on its final run! I shotgun hunted for 2 years
at the age of 12 and 13, but it wasn't for me. It was then that I
found my true passion. The first time I sat in a tree with a bow in
hand and got to watch deer so close, I was hooked for life. Most of my
life now revolves around deer season. Late June starts my evening
drives to look at velvet bucks and I stop shed hunting in April when its
time to chase turkeys and pick mushrooms. I find a little time to kill
some coyotes and crows later in the winter as well.
My favorite
thing about life these days is getting to take my girls outside. I'm
having so much fun with my 3 year old and I can't wait till they are
both big enough to experience everything that God has put out there in
the great outdoors for our enjoyment!

Andrew / passinthru

My name is Andrew Youngs. I'm 17 years old, currently a senior in
high school. I'm a die hard baseball fan and have played since i was 5. I
also plan to attend Edinboro University of PA, and major in Criminal
Justice. I hope to continue on to the State Police Academy. I live in a
small town right outside of Lake Erie in Northwestern PA. I was raised
in a house full of dedicated PA gun hunters, hunting the PA "Big Woods"
and hardcore Canada fisherman. We have a family cabin in the Allegheny
National Forest. I never really liked the thought of bowhunting until a
few years back when a friend of mine suggested it to me. And I was
HOOKED for life! Its almost scary how obsessed I am. By now, I am
probably the most "unique" teenage you have ever met. My parents had to
literally block the Outdoor Channel and not allow me to watch it, that's
pretty sad!
I wouldn't have it any other way though, I have
became a total outdoorsman the past few years. Taking the canoe out on a
warm summer day with a buddy, hearing the sound of a mallard quack,
smelling that gun powder burn after fooling a big group of honkers and
having them think you are one of them... Now that's what keeps me going.
People say I'm not your average 17 year old. I should be looking for
girls, and being a normal teenager. But i would rather come home
and get on here, and flip on the outdoor channel and look at bowhunting
magazines and flip through trail camera pics. I'm constantly learning,
and love reading what everyone has to say on here. This site is my home
away from home. I owe all my success in the outdoor world to this site,
as well as life lessons.
Thanks again for this honor of Member of the Month, it means a lot to me.

Kyle / Dew Boyz Jr.

I just love being out in the woods. I have been in the woods pretty much
all my life. Nothing beats getting away from it all and watching nature
at its finest. My dad got me hooked on going hunting. I hunt
everything, "If it walks, crawls, swims or flies....... I HUNT IT!".
But, my passion is to chase big Ohio whitetail bucks. I do everything
to help me and Dad's odds of shooting a giant increase. We plant
food plots, set up trail cameras, put out mineral stations, and so much
more. We spend endless hours in the woods and in the range practicing
for that one moment at a big ole buck. My Mom says that Dad and I are
obsessed. I tell her that we are not obsessed, we are addicted.
I
learned every skill and trick i know from my Dad. He has taught me a
lot. Last year, i wasn't having a good year hunting. I told Dad that i
was set out to kill a deer by myself. I wasn't doing very good at all by
myself. So, Dad took me out. And you know what ended up happening, I
killed a nice doe. It just wouldn't be the same out there if he wasn't
there with me. Thanks Dad.
Well USAHP Family, thanks for letting me Member of the Month for December. This place is a second family to me. Thanks Again.

Jason / cnebuks

My name is Jason. I have lived my whole life in west central Minnesota. I
have 4 children ages 6, 5, 4, and 2. I come from a family of 7. I grew
up in a primarily fishing family. I was introduced to hunting by a grade
school friend who had a dad that was kind enough to allow me to tag
along on their hunting adventures.
I was an avid waterfowl
hunter until my wife inherited 70 acres from her family in 2002. I then
hung up my chest waders and duck calls to try my hand at deer hunting
and absolutely fell in love with it. With out much "how to" guidance,
I've been a self taught deer hunter and am completely caught up in it 12
months out of the year.
Giving great thanks to the dad of my
friend who gave me the opportunity to go hunting as a kid, I've
dedicated my early adult life to introducing kids to the outdoors. I
coach the Archery in the Schools Program at our local schools, teach a
gun safety class for local kids, and volunteer for a chapter of Midwest
outdoors without limits which is a club that takes disabled veterans
and handicapped people out hunting and fishing. Every chance I get I'm
taking my kids and their friends out to any woods I can find to teach
them everything I can about the great outdoors. They may not become
hunters or fishermen, but I take great pride in giving them the
opportunity to choose.

Alex Hastings / AlexHastings

Hi, my name is Alex Hastings (AlexHastings). I'm 19 years old from Quincy,
Illinois. My passion for the outdoors started at age 6 when my dad took
me out squirrel hunting. I remember to this day holding my grandpa's
savage 20 gauge single shot and shooting my first squirrel out of the
tree. I started deer hunting in the year 2000 during the gun season, then decided to pick up a bow in 2003, and man am I glad i did. It took
me 6 years before I was able to harvest my first deer, but man was the
wait well worth it. She was a big doe and it made it even better to have
one of my best friends there to share the moment with me. From then on I
totally fell in love with the sport and have learned many things along
the way that have helped me be successful. Aside to deer hunting, my
second passion is being in the woods during the spring time listening to
turkeys gobble off the roost. Nothing beats a morning like this in my opinion. I also enjoy waterfowl hunting as well. Nothing beats sitting
in a duck blind or in a cut corn field with a bunch of buddies and
having a great time shooting ducks and geese.
Now I have to give a
big thanks to my second family, the USAHP members. If it wasn't for all
of you great people on this website, we wouldn't have what we have
today. Thanks for taking me in and making me feel like I'm at home guys!

Eric Dew / Dew Boyz

Hi my name is Eric Dew (Dew Boyz). I started hunting squirrels with my
dad when I was 5, too little to shoot but just right to tag along. Got
my first set of license when I turned 9. Shot my first buck when I was
13, my dad even let me drive the truck around the gravel road down into
the field and back up to load him up. We have always been a hunting
family and enjoy the game we harvest. We always put it to good use.
When my kids got old enough to take mushroom hunting, yes you guessed it,
they were with me. Kelsey and Kyle both found their first mushroom
when they were 3. I got Kelsey into Jakes when she was 4 and she
stayed a Jakes thru till she turned 18. Kyle I done the same with him.
One year at Jakes they caught 26ft 3 inches worth of bluegills between
them. You talk about a hall of bluegills. I make sure to take time
with both of them each year to go squirrel hunting, rabbit, deer or
whatever it takes to just spend time with them. In fact Kyle is the
biggest reason I am back into bow hunting. I took off about 15yrs from
it and he just wanted to go with whatever he could shoot. Crossbow his
first year and now he is up to a Bear Compound. We spend a lot of time
in the woods, scouting, planting food plots, riding the atv's, and just
getting out. My wife Barb and I have always tried to make our home a
place that they will remember all their lives and always will call home.
I love the outdoors and hunting to just get away from the normal
stresses of life. Mind therapy is what I have always called it. We
always have our annual deer camp, my brother-dad-kids-sister/in/law and
whomever wants to just have a good time. We do eat rather well that
week as well. My wife and daughter-in-law take care of that and they
spoil us to no end. Well I think I have rattled on long enough, but I
do want to thank each and everyone of you on here that listen to what I
have to ask and say. This is really like a family. I am honored to be
named with this and will try to do my best to help out this site and
family as much as I can. So if you are ever around Hackney Ohio, look
me up.
P.S. I was kinda afraid to send a pic of myself, Jimmy now can have some fun with my ugly mug too!!
again thanks gang

Zack Lawson / wihunter24

My name is Zack Lawson and I’m from a small town along the Mississippi
River in west central Wisconsin that’s surrounded by rolling hills of
farmland and woods and steep limestone bluffs. I was born into a
family full of farmers, hunters, trappers and commercial fisherman and
as a result, the outdoors came naturally and have been a part of me for
as long as I can remember. It was always more of a matter of “when” I
was going to follow in the footsteps of my family members when it came
to the outdoors and not “if”. When I was younger, I’d beg my dad to
take me hunting with him during bow season. He finally gave in when I
was 6 years old and took me out on a warm September night. We ended up
seeing a doe and a nice 8pt, and although there were no shots offered,
I’ve been hooked ever since that night. Although, I couldn’t legally
hunt yet, my passion for hunting grew each and every year and was only
fueled by sightings of big deer while tagging along with my dad and
grandpa or while working on the family farm.
During my first
year of hunting at age 12, I was able to take a nice doe and the
following year took my first buck, a small 8pt. Once I got to high
school it was expected that I’d play football like every other guy in my
small school, but I had other plans and football cut into my hunting
time so I chose hunting. It would be several more years before I shot
another buck, but the lessons I learned during this time period have
greatly shaped the hunter and person that I am today. My years of
patience were finally rewarded during my senior year of high school when
I was able to down the biggest deer of my life so far- an 11pt that
scored in the mid 150’s. I’d seen this particular buck several times in
previous weeks and finally on opening night of gun season, all the
pieces of the puzzle came together. Everything changed that November
night in 2001, and I’ve been on a roll when it comes to hunting ever
since. Around this time I also got into turkey and shed antler hunting
and they’ve become increasingly popular passions of mine.
When
it came time to go to college, I applied to only 1 school- the closest
one to home. I figured this would allow me to get home and hunt as much
as possible and thankfully I was able to work my classes around my
hunting schedule. 4 ½ years later with a degree in Conservation, I was
the first member of my family to graduate from college. These days I’m
living in my hometown and work for a company that specializes in erosion
control and commercial landscaping in the Minneapolis – St. Paul, MN
metro area. At the end of the work day I can’t wait to get out of the
busy metropolitan area and back to small town, rural Wisconsin where
it’s just an overall slower pace of life. The beauty of the area, when
coupled with excellent hunting, fishing and good people keeps me here
and although it takes me over an hour to get to work or any major store,
I will never live anywhere else. When I’m not hunting or doing
something outdoor related, you can find me spending time with my family
and some of the best friends a person could ask for, playing basketball
or slow pitch softball, participating in small town shenanigans and
occasionally moonlighting as an overall wise-guy.
I’ve learned a
lot from each and every person on here and although I’ve never met
anyone from this site in person, friendships have been developed and I
hope to one day meet all of you. In closing, I’d like to thank everyone
associated with USAHP for making it a great place and my second home.

Willy / Willy

I have been hunting and fishing my whole life. My Dad started taking me
to the deer stand with him when I was old enough to walk on my own. I
remember him having to let me sit on his knee just so I could see out
the windows on his blinds in the south Texas brush country. I ended up
finishing high school in Florida where hunting was as far from my mind
as it could get. After finishing 6 years in the Navy, I returned to
Florida as a married man with 2 children. I became involved heavily in
the bass fishing tournament scene, gradually changing over to almost strictly
offshore fishing. It was something I did almost every weekend of the
year.
I met a guy through work who invited me up to his deer hunting
club in southern Georgia one week, and the rest is history. The first day
in the woods woke up all the memories of my younger child hood with my
father and I became addicted to the woods even more so than I had been
with the blue water of offshore fishing. I moved west from Florida about
15 years ago to care for my grandparents in Oklahoma. I discovered a
whole new world of hunting out here. I was in close proximity to lands
that held true giants, something I had never had the opportunity to hunt
before. I began to travel each fall to some place I had heard held big
bucks like Canada, Iowa, and Kansas. Along the way I learned something from
everyone I met.My passion is Bow hunting big Whitetails, but I love
it just about anyway I can get it using Bow, Rifle, and Muzzle loader.
I
still make it home a few times a year for a saline fix. Once it's in your
blood you cant ever just walk away from it. But for the most part, I am
content with the outdoors right here in my own back yard.

Bo
/ Mex. Bowhunter
My whole life I have lived in the country. I was brought up in a hard
working family and spent a lot of my free time on a 300 acre ranch in my
back yard. If I was not fishing, I was looking for something to hunt.
Growing up in a one buck county I was very limited to deer hunting. I
started bow hunting when I was 13 so I could add two deer to my limit a
season. Most seasons I would hold out on harvesting a buck till the end
of season just so I could hunt as much as possible. I harvested my first
deer with a gun at 10 years of age and my first deer with a bow when I was
16. After that first deer with a bow I was hooked for life on bow
hunting. There was something about getting that close to deer back then
and it only took a doe to have a great weekend of hunting. The only
time my dad ever took off from work was to go hunting so it was a
special time each and every time we got out together. I kept bow hunting
when very few people I knew back then even owned a bow. In 1989 hunting
changed for me in so many ways. My dad got on a Mexico deer lease to
help a friend out to fill a lease. We made our first trip down to the
lease and I forgot everything I ever knew about hunting. For the first
time ever I was hunting deer like I had only seen on TV. That year will
be etched in my mind for the rest of my life. I got to see mature deer
for the first time and I learned that bucks did not all live at night
during season. As fun as it was, my dad was not able to get back on the
lease the next season. I had only gone to help and watch but, I then
started dreaming of being able to hunt big deer again in the wildest
place I have ever seen in my life. I continued to bow hunt around home
as much as I could afford it and started going to West Texas to hunt
whitetails and mule deer. As much as I loved that country, I always
dreamed of going back to Mexico. And my wish came true; Dad was able to
get on the same lease in Mexico the following year, and I was able to
go again for the ride. I saw the biggest deer of my life that season and
said from that point on that I would work hard and come back one day as
a hunter. I met my wife in 1994 and for the first time I was able to go
to Mexico as a hunter and chase the deer I had dreamed of. She started
going down with me that year and did not know at first why we would go
so far out of our way to hunt whitetails when we could just go hunt one
on her grandpa’s place at home. LOL! A few years down the road I
started working offshore and for the first time in my life I knew what
time off was. Tracy started getting more and more into hunting and I
found a hunting partner for life. I continued to bow hunt at home and
got about every friend I had into bow hunting till I did not know anyone
that didn’t own or hunt with a bow. After 7 years of going out we decided
to get married and start a family. We both continued to work as much as
we could and hunt when we could afford it. We have hunted all over
Texas, Oklahoma, and Mexico for the last 15 years. Besides whitetails I
have hunted turkeys, ducks, geese, dove, quill, hogs, exotics and about
every varmint that can be called in. I always love to call turkeys. I
practiced with turkeys calls more than my mom and dad would have liked
me to. The area I lived had very few birds and no season. I would go out
and just call turkeys in just to do it. Later on I started going on day
hunts out West and found a new love for hunting in the spring. There is
just something about hearing a turkey gobble on a spring morning that
reminds me how great the outdoors really is. Out of all the hunts I
have been on, I have never forgotten one of them. Managing whitetails
has never been for the horns, but to do my part to give back to
something that has help paved my life. As most of y'all know I have been
blessed with a little boy that also loves the out doors and I have been
given a chance to relive my whole outdoors experience again. Even if he
decides one day that he doesn’t want to hunt I know he will have respect
for those who do. I am so grateful to have known and learned from so
many great people and only hope I can do my part to keep people out in
the GREAT OUTDOORS!
